Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Implementation Training Page

In the months of February & March, LifeWays and PCE Systems have scheduled hands-on trainings to prepare our staff and Provider Network for the Phase II implementation of our new EMR system, LEO. Trainings are customized to fit our various unique staff needs and availability. All trainings will be held in the LifeWays Pine Room in Jackson.

LifeWays Provider Network Trainings

LEO Phase II Clinical Training: Part 1
Training Time: 4 Hours, Hands-On
Who should attend?
Provider Network Staff that provide clinical services.  Please review Learning Objectives for further information.  It is expected that both outpatient staff and residential (home managers or administrative staff) attend.  There is a Part 2 training for staff that attend Part 1 who also need to learn how to do the psychosocial assessment electronically, please refer to next training listed.
Learning Objectives:
    1. Learn and practice how to electronically create and sign the following clinical forms:

  • Individual progress note
  • Medication delivery progress note
  • Supported employment progress note
  • Consent for participation
  • Consent for exchange of information
  • Incident report
  • Death report

    2. Learn how to create a therapy group and group session progress notes
    3. Understand the Treatment Plan development process, including the creation of the following treatment plan forms:

  • Pre-Planning for PCP Meeting
  • Residential Quality of Life Assessment (within Pre-Plan)
  • Treatment Plan
  • Treatment Plan Addendum
  • Treatment Plan Review

    4. Understand how to scan documents into the electronic consumer chart
    5. Understand how to obtain an electronic signature from the consumer using the signature pad
    6. Understand how to view consumer appointments in the Calendar module

LEO Phase II Clinical Training: Part 2 Training Time: 2 Hours, Hands-On

Who should attend?
Provider Network Staff that complete the full psychosocial assessment, also known as the Intake Assessment or Annual Assessment Update.  It is expected that clinical staff that perform an intake-like function at the provider agency attend.  These staff should attend both Part 1 and Part 2 while all other clinical staff that do not do intakes will attend only Part 1.
Learning Objectives:
    1. Learn and practice how to electronically create and sign the Initial/Update Assessment.
    2. Learn and practice how to electronically complete the CAFAS, PECFAS and LOCUS.

LEO Phase II Calendar Training Training Time: 3 Hours, Hands-On
Who should attend? 
Provider Network staff that will become experts in the Calendar module.  Preferred that 1-2 staff from each Outpatient Provider agency attend; suggestion is 1-2 front line staff and a manager. (Depending on how many sites.)  Residential providers are not required to attend.
Learning Objectives:
     1. Understand how the LifeWays Access Center will use the Calendar to schedule first appointments for new consumers being referred to your agency 
     2. Understand the Calendar module including:
            * Navigation
            * Creating availability for Staff Appointments
            * Creating and maintaining Consumer appointments, cancellations, etc.
            * Creating and managing personal calendar options

    1. Learn and practice the logging in and general navigation of the Menu 
    2. Learn and practice searching for Consumers records
    3. Understand the Calendar module, specifically how to view your appointments for the day
    4. Learn and practice adding the following forms to the medical chart:

  • Psychiatric Evaluation
  • Medication Review
  • Progress Note

    5. Learn how to view and meaningfully use:

  • Vital sign readings
  • AIMS worksheet
  • Consumer adverse reactions / allergies
  • Scanned lab orders

    6. Learn how to e-prescribe and prescribe to a printer with tamper proof paper
    7. Learn how to give and approve verbal orders

    1. Learn and practice adding the following forms to the medical chart:

  • Integrated Health Assessment
  • Progress Note

    2. Learn how to record vital signs, allergies / adverse reactions, AIMS, and non-CMH prescribed medications.
    3. Learn how to record and process verbal orders
